A person commits burglary when, without authority, he knowingly enters, or without authority, remains within a building or motor vehicle with the intent to commit a felony or theft.

Under Illinois Statue 720 ILCS 5/19-1 Burglary is a Class 2 Felony punishable by 3 to 7 years in the State Penitentiary with a possible fine of $25,000.
