In Illinois there is a law named the Illinois Controlled Substance Act which prohibits the possession, the possession with the intent to deliver, the delivery, and trafficking of certain Controlled Substances including heroin. There are various consequences and penalties for different levels and severity of violations of the Act based on quantity or the intent to deliver, or where the heroin was delivered, or if the heroin can be proved to come from another state. There are also federal laws that prohibit similar conduct as prohibited in Illinois.
