Gunrunning

Under Illinois Statute 720 Ilcs 5/24-3A

A person commits gunrunning when he or she unlawfully sells or transfers 3 or more firearms.

A person who commits gunrunning is guilty of a Class 1 felony punishable by 4 to 15 years in the State penitentiary and a fine up to $25,000.

If the transfer is more than 11 firearms but less than 20 firearms it is a Class X felony for which the sentence shall be a term of imprisonment of not less than 8 years and not more than 40 years;

If the transfer is of more than 20 firearms it is a Class X felony for which the sentence shall be a term of imprisonment of not less than 10 years and not more than 50 years

A person who commits gunrunning by transferring firearms to a person who, at the time of the commission of the offense, is under 18 years of age is guilty of a Class X felony punishable by 6 to 30 years in a State penitentiary and a fine up to $25,000.
